This will include qualifying events at the local store level, regional level qualifiers, and a much larger world championship event.
In one of the biggest TCG-related announcements in a while, Wizards of the Coast announced Magic is reanimating a structured competitive pipeline for paper play. April Fools Day 2022 was fairly light in the TCG world, but we did enjoy Magic’s Left Handed Cards (which are now actually available to order), and Grand Archive’s art change announcement. It kicked off with a livestream showcasing the new families and mechanics, and some cool touches, like the hot-stamped gold foil treatment on their Golden Age cards. Magic of course had their full spoiler season for Streets of New Capenna, the Art Deco-inspired set of Demon crime families, Halo bootleggers, et al, all in the span of roughly a week. Bushiroad’s Spring Conference dropped a ton of info on upcoming titles joining their Weiss Schwarz game system, including Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, The Seven Deadly Sins: The Revival of the Commandments, and everyone’s favorite thing to tease: that there will be another teaser coming, sometime. This anticipated set brings Multicolor cards into Digimon at last. Digimon appears to continue to suffer from supply chain woes as the next set, New Adventure, is pushed back 3 weeks for North America. Additionally, the usually tight-lipped Square Enix has put out some more distant product release info including early incomplete card images and box promo details. While the gold stamped entry promos and prizes are certainly welcome, players are more excited to simply get to play some competitive paper games of their favorite TCG again. 
At long last, US Final Fantasy TCG players have been able to rejoice at the return of major competitive events with the announcement of the ReRaise series in 5 select locations around the US.But NA players can look forward to buying Crimson Rampage product at Jasco Premier stores on May 6th, and everyone else on May 13th.
While the game is proving popular, locking down dates for products seems to require a heroic effort.
At long last, My Hero Academia‘s second set, Crimson Rampage, has its North American release dates locked down – look forward to the return of Class 1-A and friends at the beginning of May! At least, if you’re in North America. For an additional small but interesting note, the team also showcased Taylor, a new Hero “available exclusively to cosplayers” created as a way to directly reward those fans who put so much love and effort into that niche but impactful side of the wider hobby. To top it off, these History Pack reprints will be in White Border – a trend MTG kicked to the curb nearly 15 years ago with Tenth Edition – and will feature no foils, making them almost purely an item for players to get to ease access to cards as the game hits its adolescence. 
Legend Story Studios continues to buck trends in the TCG world – our highlight story of the week is Flesh and Blood 2.0, a reorienting of the Flesh and Blood product plans that eliminates 1st Edition prints, adds a new rarity (“Marvels”), and adds a periodic set of reprints, called History Packs, much like Magic’s old Core Set format.
